The Afrika-Verein (German-African Business Association) hosted the German-African energy forum on April 08./09. in Hamburg for the seventh time. The German-African Energy Forum is the central platform covering all German-African energy issues, ranging from oil and gas to conventional power, renewable energies and energy efficiency.
Rural electrification was explicitly dealt with as a new main topic. On this occasion, Tobias Zwirner, managing director of Phaesun GmbH introduced the Phaesun BOSS applications. BOSS stands for "Business Opportunities with Solar Systems" and includes Off-Grid-solar systems which are used for generating incomes. The possibilities of applications are unlimited. Mobile phone charging service, cooling kits for bars, solar operated cereal mills and a lot more.
Cooperation partners of the Energy Forum were the Federal Foreign Office (AA), the African Petroleum Producers' Association (APPA), the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA), the Arab Union of Electricity (AUE), the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and the Hannover Messe.
