The Moroccan integrator Schiele Maroc SA announces the deployment of the first of 60 GSM stations powered by solar energy on behalf of the Moroccan operator Maroc Telecom. The first Moroccan operator and leader in its sector, Maroc Telecom has awarded the company a contract through a period of two years, enabling it to supply power to its new stations (BTS) dedicated to mobile phones. As it is a turnkey project, Maroc Telecom also entrusted the design, development and engineering support for all sites covered by this contract to Schiele Maroc to reach a global power system of 1.5 MW. As the sites are located in remote areas far from the electricity grid, they will be powered with a combination of PV and diesel gensets and possibly a wind turbine for few sites. The installation of the first system started in March 2012.

Memmingen, Germany. 03.12.2011. Phaesun have won the European Solar Prize in the category One-World-Cooperation. The German solar company based in Memmingen has been awarded for a concept to distribute small PV systems in rural Africa.
The award ceremony took place in Berlin on 2nd December, presented by EUROSOLAR, the European Association for Renewable Energy, in cooperation with KfW Bankengruppe.
Phaesun GmbH develop innovative solutions for Off-Grid power supply. With a new concept to spread the use of Pico PV systems, Phaesun are oriented towards the needs of people in rural Africa.
PicoPV systems are small photovoltaic stand-alone systems with a capacity of up to 10 watts, which cover basic electrical power needs such as lighting or recharging mobile phones.
Phaesun rely on local partner companies in the target countries. These local partner companies are responsible for the import of PicoPV systems and the selection of independent solar dealers that market the systems in rural areas. Phaesun render assistance in the development of the network and train the retailers. The local project partners set up so-called solar shops and solar kiosks which are not only able to supply the PV systems, but also services to the local population.
The implementation of the concept started 2010 in Mozambique and was financially supported by the German development aid. It has been transferred to Angola where it is successfully pursued without any subsidies. The first Solar Shop opened in summer 2011 in Angola.
Created by EUROSOLAR in 1994, the European Solar Prize - an idea of Hermann Scheer the founder of EUROSOLAR - has since been awarded for exemplary projects and initiatives in the field of renewable energy use.
This year's winners come from Germany, Bulgaria, Denmark, Italy, Austria, Spain, Turkey and Switzerland.

10 years’ company anniversary of Phaesun GmbH celebrated in the framework of first „Off-Grid Experts“ Event
Memmingen, 04.10.2011 Solar enterprise Phaesun GmbH situated in Memmingen celebrated their „10 years of Phaesun and more than 500 years of Off-Grid experience“ anniversary on September 30 and October 1 together with their customers and 13 international manufacturers of the solar trade. On this occasion, the Off-Grid experts organised a two days’ exhibition with accompanying workshops. All in all, the members and partner of the Phaesun team stand for more than 500 years of professional experience in the Off-Grid sector.
"This event is extraordinary, since it is exclusively concentrated on the stand-alone power supply”, Huguette Aust, PV Off-Grid Sales Director of co-organiser Steca Elektronik explained. „Solar trade events usually focus on network supply while the Off-Grid sector is mostly neglected. Meanwhile, however, it has developed into more than just a niche market and must be understood as an independent business sector.“
The international visitors could inform themselves around the Off-Grid power supply with PV stand-alone systems at the in-house exhibition and used the opportunity to compare notes with the manufacturers on the spot. Representatives of the international Off-Grid trade introduced product innovations and new developments in the framework of workshops. They exchanged experiences in the field of rural electrification, water supply, industrial and leisure time applications. A motocross race with electric motorbikes and the Phaesun birthday party completed the entertaining framework programme.

Phaesun supports students initiative SIFE with electrification of Romani settlements in Romania
Memmingen, 01.09.2011 Solar energy distributors Phaesun GmbH from Memmingen/Germany have accomplished the "Green Power" project in August 2011 together with the initiative "Students in Free Enterprise" (short: SIFE) launched by the University of Regensburg. The project supports the Romani population in Romania providing 30 households in the villages Rosia, Nou and Daia in Transylvania with PicoPV systems for off-grid power supply.
Phaesun donated the PicoPV systems. They provide a reliable electrical illumination and the possibility to load mobile phones and operate other small electrical applications. The SIFE students have been trained in the installation and reparation of the systems by Phaesun and immediately passed their knowledge on to the local project management in Romania where they could also practise their skills on the spot.
"The Romani population is still discriminated against in Romania. Most settlements are not on the national power grid and children are often denied access to education which results in problems such as high unemployment rates and alcoholism", explains Daniel Kaiser, SIFE project manager.
"We have developed a holistic concept to support the Romani families emphasising education, electrification and the generation of incomes and started to realise the project in March 2011. With our project, we can make a contribution to improve the living conditions of the Romani families in the long run."

Memmingen, Germany. 29 April 2011. Phaesun´s new PN-AP is a three-phase, variable frequency pump inverter with a power output from 1.1 to 5.5 kilowatts. The PN-AP can power a wide range of standard pumps and makes a battery back-up unnecessary. Integrated MPP trackers ensure that the device finds the maximum power point of the solar generator at any time. The maximum efficiency of the new device is 97 percent.
Phaesun will be showing the PN-AP inverter for the first time at the Intersolar Europe trade fair. It is part of a turnkey solution that also includes solar modules, structures, a pump, a tank and cabling. The photovoltaic water pumping system was developed specifically for the operation in remote areas. It can be used for community drinking water supply, livestock breeding and agricultural irrigation. Phaesun will distribute the pump internationally.
The PN-AP withstands rough climatic conditions through its high quality cooling system and its robust IP 55 stainless steel housing. The highly compact and lightweight box is simple to install. Components can be exchanged very fast which makes after sales service very easy and economical.
