Phase two of AEEP: Solar cinemas for rural Ethiopia
In April 2015, the AEE-programme has kicked off its second round.
Eight lecturers from the Ethiopian Arba Minch University are now
undergoing a second intensive training course at the University of
Neu-Ulm and will share their knowledge with students and
entrepreneurs afterwards in their homeland from July on. Small solar
systems which can be used as a means of income generation for
microenterprises are in the focus here. The technical basics are
conveyed by the technical team of Phaesun. In 2015, among other
things, a mobile solar cinema and a PC training room are supposed to
be realised and will be used in areas without grid in the south of
Ethiopia in cooperation with local entrepreneurs.
Together with the University of Neu-Ulm and the University of Arba
Minch, Phaesun initiated the AEEP (Applied Education and
Entrepreneurship Programme) in December 2013 aiming at the
introduction of a new study course at the South-Ethiopian university
and the development of small business models with the help of solar
technology. The project is supported by the DAAD and co-financed
with funds of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research

Market potential for PV systems in West Africa
The use of renewable energies in Western Africa was in the focus at
the first "Solar & Off-Grid Renewables West Africa Conference and
Exhibition" on 21./22. April 2015 in Accra/Ghana. Positive
developments in Nigeria and Senegal, the financing of regional solar
projects, as well as the opportunities of foreign suppliers on the
market were the topics to be debated. Representatives of
governmental organisations, local solar pioneers and international
market players took part in these discussions. Michel Mansard,
Managing Director of Phaesun France and Serge Coulibaly of the
Phaesun representation in Ivory Coast reported about their
