Maximilian Lanzl

Maximilian Lanzl has been living and working in Memmingen again since summer 2021. He received the "young art and new paths" scholarship from Bavaria, which allowed him to focus entirely on art production.
His work is increasingly concentrated in painting. Maximilian Lanzl's artistic activity revolved around painting from the beginning, in sometimes more sometimes less close circles. During his time at the academy, he experimented a lot with the translation of different media into the image. Performative approaches in particular focused more on the process than the result. In the last 5 years, Maximilian Lanzl has returned strongly to the rules and dimensions of the (very) original medium of painting.

Mike Prinz

Central and inexhaustible motifs are people. People, figures, portraits, faces, eyes, hands, hair, wrinkles, poses, nuances.
As a close-up, cropped or embedded in a natural environment or a spatial context. Depicted in detail or in dynamic blur of movement.
The basis and parts of the motif are created more or less spontaneously with the aim of letting momentary moods flow into the pictures. Spontaneity and precision alternate.
The result is an intense depiction and also perception of these situations and personalities.
In Mike Prinz's work, what he paints or draws is never an object, but always a subject and just as interesting as what he does not paint and suggests beyond the canvas. Beyond the classical fields of painting and drawing, he experiments with three-dimensional representations and also explodes many a "conservative" format. (Stephan A. Schmidt)
